Rosemary’s first job was at 13 years old, on Saturdays in a hairdressing salon. She left school at 15 with no qualifications and took a position as a Hairdressing Apprentice. Over the years Rosemary worked up to managing a busy high street salon. Due to her husband’s redundancy from the steel works, they became stewards at a Working Men’s social club in Derbyshire for two years.
The couple then moved in to the retail sector as a management team with a large company where they worked together for 10 years. During this time Rosemary attended night school to gain academic qualifications. This led to a variety of roles within the company, including City Centre Area Supervisor, Post Office Area Supervisor and Compliance and Audit manager; travelling across 70 sites.
A further career change found Rosemary within the Welfare to Work sector and she has worked on FND, The Work Programme and Work Choice. She also worked in the Work and Health programme as an Employment Adviser, Lead Employment Adviser, South Yorkshire Lead Core Activity 3, In Work Support Adviser and Lead in Work Support Adviser.
